Trail RCMP continue to focus on impaired driving enforcement during holiday season

File # 2024-5382

On December 7, 2024, at 12:33 a.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was patrolling in a marked police vehicle when he discovered that a 20-year-old Rossland man was driving his vehicle without valid insurance on Rossland Avenue, in Trail, BC. The officer detained the man and his vehicle roadside.

The officer believed that the man’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was allegedly impaired by alcohol. A demand was read to the man who provided a breath sample roadside that resulted in a ‘fail’.

The 20-year-old Rossland man was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under Section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act. His vehicle was impounded for up to 30 days.

Please arrange for a safe ride home if you plan to drink alcohol or use drugs. We want everyone get home to their families this holiday season, says Sgt. Wicentowich

Watch out for grinches trying to steal Christmas

Trail and Greater District RCMP remind the public to take steps to protect their packages delivered to their homes this Christmas season. Packages left outside of your home can be a quick, easy, and enticing target for thieves. Though at this time, it appears that there is a low number of reported thefts in the Trail and Greater District area, please consider the following tips to protect yourself against theft this season:

We would like to everyone have a happy holiday and get all of their presents, says Sgt. Wicentowich
