Firearms Report
On November 5th at approximately 3:30 pm, the RCMP received multiple reports of a male walking in the 900 block of Keith Road in Gibsons carrying a rifle. Police located the 50 year old suspect and arrested him for careless use of a firearm. The gun was located and found to be a pellet gun that looked very similar to a hunting rifle.
Elon Musk Scam
A Sunshine Coast resident fell victim to an investment scam which started with a $250 investment and ended with them losing over $900,000. The scam utilizes fake endorsements from Elon Musk and shows high return for low risk. These types of scams have been seen all over Canada and have led to large monetary losses from the victims who believe they are working with legitimate security and investment companies.Bike Theft
On October 21, 2024, a report was received from Gibsons Elementary School that 9 bikes had been stolen from a shed over the weekend at 783 School Road in Gibsons. RCMP believe that a white Ford pick up, also stolen from Gibsons, had been used to transport the bikes. The truck and the bikes have been recovered by police, some in Sechelt and some located in Gibsons. Anyone with any information regarding this theft is asked to contact the Sunshine Coast RCMP at 604-885-2266.
Collision
On October 15th, police were dispatched to a report of a Mercedes that went off the road in the 7800 block of Sunshine Coast Highway and rolled into a ditch on the west side of the highway. An 88 year old Sunshine Coast resident was extracted from the vehicle and airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital in stable condition. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
