Noise bylaw

Loud noise coming from an apartment located in the 400 block of City Centre, that was disturbing others, was reported to the Kitimat RCMP at 3:42 am on January 9th. The Kitimat RCMP officer that responded, attended and was able to locate the source of the noise. A discussion was had with the occupant of the apartment, who apologised for the excessive noise and took appropriate steps to ensure it did not occur again. (2025-95)

Highway 37 single vehicle collision

At 6:28 pm on January 10th, the Kitimat RCMP were called to a single vehicle collision on Highway 37, near Onion Lake. The investigating officers attended and located a vehicle that had rolled into the ditch. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and was waiting for a ride. The Kitimat RCMP would like to remind all drivers to be aware that road conditions can change very quickly and unexpectedly this time of the year. Slow down and give yourself extra time to get to your destination. (2025-129)

Intoxicated in public

The Kitimat RCMP received a call to check the wellbeing of a male at a business on the 200 block of City Centre on January 11th. A Kitimat RCMP officer attended and located the male, who appeared to be intoxicated. An assessment was conducted and it was determined the male needed to receive medical attention. He was taken to a local hospital to be seen by healthcare professionals. (2025-139)

Erratic driving

A report of an erratic driver was received by the Kitimat RCMP on January 13th, at 7:28 am. It was reported that a semi truck had been passing vehicles unsafely along Highway 37, while heading south into Kitimat. A description of the vehicle, including a licence plate was provided, allowing the investigating officer to locate the vehicle as it arrived in Kitimat. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was spoken to and warned regarding road safety. (2025-153)

Kitamaat Village Rd single vehicle collision

On January 14th at 9:23 am, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of a vehicle parked near the Morrison creek Bridge along the Kitamaat Village road, with it’s hazard lights flashing, damage to it’s bumper and no one around the vehicle. The owner and driver of the vehicle was located and stated they had hit an item on the road, causing them to drive into the ditch, but were able to get back onto the road. There were no injuries reported. A police file number was provided for the insurance claim and a tow truck was dispatched to transport the damaged vehicle. (2025-174)

Fraud under $5000

A local Kitimat resident reported that they had been a victim of a fraud at 2:03 pm on January 15th. The investigating officer was advised that a sum of money had been sent for an online purchase. The parties that received the money started requesting more money before they would send the item purchased. The officer educated the victim about fraud, scams and assisted in blocking the communication from the scammer. The Kitimat RCMP would like to remind everyone that the best way to be protected from being scammed or the victim of a fraud is to be educated on the methods used.
