Checkstop program

2024-2476, 2024-2480, 2024-2505;

From November 10 to November 18, 2024 Lillooet RCMP conducted 3 check stops in the Lillooet area checking drivers for valid licenses, insurance, and driver sobriety. Approximately 100 vehicles were checked, 9 verbal warnings were given, 2 tickets were issued under the Motor Vehicle Act. One driver blew a fail on an approved screening device (ASD) for alcohol above the legal limit in their system, they were immediately prohibited from driving for 90 days and their vehicle was impounded, the matter was subsequently referred to ICBC.

Uttering threats

2024-2483

On November 13, 2024 an individual in Lillooet reported to an RCMP member that she had left another province after she had allegedly been physically assaulted by her boyfriend’s mother. She was also allegedly threatened by her as well. A safety plan was discussed and the matter was documented as requested for police awareness at the time.

Assault

2024-2486

On November 13, 2024 a caller in Lytton reported her husband had assaulted her. Lytton RCMP members responded and were advised upon arrival there was no physical hitting, there was yelling amongst them only, and alcohol was involved. There were no injuries. The husband had left. An RCMP member later followed up and spoke with the husband when he returned, he confirmed it was a verbal argument only. The matter was documented and police planned to follow up with the couple as well.

Theft

2024-2502

On November 16, 2024 a local store manager in Lillooet reported someone had shoplifted the day prior, leaving the store with a shopping cart full of groceries without paying. They had security footage of the suspect leaving the store without paying. An RCMP member attended and obtained the footage. RCMP have identified the suspect and are to prepare a report to crown counsel recommending a charge for theft.

Driving while prohibited

2024-2498

On November 16, 2024 a Lillooet RCMP member queried the license plate of a blue Dodge SUV on a police database for active insurance and learned the insurance was in fact expired. A traffic stop was conducted with the vehicle, the driver did not have a valid driver license and was prohibited from driving. The driver was arrested for driving while prohibited and then released on an Appearance Notice to attend court in January for the alleged offence. The vehicle was impounded. A report to crown counsel is to be submitted.

Check well being

2024-2521

On November 18, 2024 a customer service employee from a Canadian bank reported that a caller on the line with them had stated that she was going to hang herself while on the line with them. Lillooet RCMP members attended the woman's residence, she stated it was a "in the heat of the moment utterance" she had no attention to harm herself she was simply expressing frustration in the moment. There were no further concerns.
