Man arrested for uttering threats and assault

On April 19, 2025, at approximately 7:00pm, Powell River RCMP responded a report that a man had walked up to a ferry patron at the BC ferries Westview terminal and threatened to kill him and spat in his face.

A BC Ferries employee intervened and the suspect left. The ferry patron reported that the man was known to him and was identified.

Powell River RCMP attended to the man’s residence and arrested him for uttering threats and assault and released him to appear in Provincial Court.

Item stolen from vehicle parked at qathet General Hospital

On April 17, 2025 Powell River RCMP received a report that a portion of a Thule bike rack had been stolen from a truck that was parked at qathet General Hospital.

The vehicle was parked in the parking lot of the hospital on April 16 between 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Election signs damaged throughout Powell River

Powell River RCMP continue to receive reports of tampering with election signs throughout the community.

During an election, it is important that political debate be driven by respect. Destruction of election property threatens the integrity of our democratic process.

Powell River RCMP would like to remind everyone that interfering with election signs is a criminal offence under the Criminal Code and the Canada Elections Act and can result in fines or charges.

Abandoned E-bike worth approximately $1800 found at Resort on Hwy 101

On March 8, 2025 an E bike was found at the Seabreeze Resort on Hwy 101. The manager of the resort reported that the E bike had been sitting near the washrooms of the resort for several weeks and had not been claimed by any of the residents.
