On December 24, 2023, at approximately 2:50 a.m., the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP received a report of individuals allegedly firing shots toward a Mosaic Security Officer. When Security Patrol approached, several shots were allegedly fired in their direction.
Police attended the area but were not able to locate the vehicles. The area was closed to the public the following day for police to re-attend and continue to investigate in the area. As the investigation progressed, police determined this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to the public. No one was injured in this occurrence.
The North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP is continuing to investigate this matter and are looking for any further witnesses to come forward. If you know of anyone that was in the area, if you witnessed this event, or if you have video, please contact the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522.
