Richmond RCMP is updating the public that multiple charges have been laid against a man which resulted in the evacuation of a hotel in April of 2024.
Initial media release: Four assault style rifles and loaded handgun recovered following incident at hotel.
Richmond RCMP with the assistance of the Integrated Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team (LMD IERT) arrested the man without incident in the 3000 block of St. Edwards Drive.
Arshdeep Singh Bassi has now been charged with five offences with multiple counts including Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, as well as Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Prohibited Firearm under the Criminal Code of Canada.

From the first responding Frontline officers to the specialized teams who conducted the arrest and subsequent investigation, their professionalism and diligence ensured public safety during a high-risk incident. Bassi was arrested and remanded in-custody until June 13, 2025.
