On October 3, 2024, RCMP observed the driver of a parked pickup truck interacting with a man known to police to be a drug user. The pickup drove away and the officer conducted a traffic stop with it near the intersection of Munroe Street and Lazelle Ave. While interacting with the male driver, the officer observed drug paraphernalia, and weapons including a knife and bear spray. The man was arrested for possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose. A further search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of ammunition, cannabis, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and a firearm.
The man was further chartered for additional firearms offences including possession of a firearm contrary to restrictions and careless use. The man was released with a court date. RCMP will forward the results of the investigation to the BC Prosecution Services.
