Prohibited driver driving uninsured vehicle

While Kitimat RCMP officers were dealing with a traffic issue at the intersection of Kuldo Blvd and Haisla Blvd at approximately 8:30 am on February 21st, a vehicle was observed entering the intersection at a high rate of speed, needing to swerve to miss another vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted and the investigating officer determined the vehicles insurance had expired. Once the driver was identified, it was further found the driver was prohibited from driving and there may have been a mechanical issue with the vehicle. The driver was arrested for driving while prohibited and released on an appearance Notice to attend court on a future date. The driver was also issued a Box one notice and order immediately removing the vehicle from the highway, as such the vehicle was towed and impounded for the prohibited driving offence as well. Theft over $5000

The Kitimat RCMP received a report of a bicycle theft over $5000 on February 21st. It was reported that a bicycle, described as having a blue frame with neon yellow near the back tire and near the handle bars, maxi tires with neon yellow on the rims, neon yellow on the seat with front and rear shocks, was stolen from a cable car residence sometime since the previous evening. The neighbourhood had been canvased for CCTV footage and the investigation is still ongoing. Cause a disturbance

On February 22nd at 10:13 am, the Kitimat RCMP received a call regarding a male and female possibly fighting while walking in the Kildala neighbourhood. A description of the two was provided. The investigating officer attended the area and with the description provided and was able to quickly locate the pair. The officer was advised that the two were just horsing around and there was no ill intent meant. They were able to carry on with their morning. (2025-629)

Hit and run

A report of a vehicle that was damaged while parked on the 200 block of City Centre was reported to the Kitimat RCMP on February 24th. It was reported that the vehicle had been parked in the parking lot for no more then 10 mins, but once arriving back home, the driver noticed damages to the driver side rear quarter panel. The area was checked for CCTV and the investigation into locating the other vehicle is still ongoing. (2025-646)

Suspicious package

A Kitimat resident attended the Kitimat RCMP detachment on February 25th with a concern for a package they had received but they had not ordered. The package had all the proper information of the recipient, which was concerning as they had not provided that information to anyone recently. The investigating officer carefully took the package and opened it. It was found that the package had been sent to the recipient by one of their utility providers. The resident happily left the detachment with the package, feeling much better. (2025-657)
