Kitimat

At 3:53 pm, on February 13th, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of a vehicle driving in a manner that was of concern near Onion Lake on Highway 37, heading towards Kitimat. A description of the vehicle was provided, including the license plate number. The investigation officer was not able to locate the vehicle while making patrols, however was able to locate it when attending the registered owners address. The officer was advised that the highway was very icy and it was windy, so the driver reduced their speed to ensure they arrived home safely. (2025-526)
A report of a missing wallet was reported to the Kitimat RCMP on February 15th at 12:30 pm. It is believed that the wallet was lost the previous date somewhere around the 500 block of Mountainveiw Square. The wallet is described as a black folding wallet that will have ID and the owner’s other miscellaneous cards within. The wallet had not been turned into the RCMP at the time of reporting. If you have seen or located the wallet, please contact the Kitimat RCMP. (2025-546)
On February 16th, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of possible fraud attempts to a Kitimat residents bank account. It was found that an unknown person(s) had gained access to the resident’s old email address and the address was being used to check multiple internet sites. No transactions were completed, but some banking attempts were attempted over seas, causing the bank account to be frozen. The resident was advised to cancel any old, unused email address and ensure the security of all social media accounts. It was also suggested to contact the credit reporting companies.(2025-553)
A report of a shoplifter was reported to the Kitimat RCMP on February 17th at 11:15 am. It was reported that an unknown male had entered a business located on the 800 block of Tsimshian Blvd earlier in the day and walked out with some product without paying for it. CCTV was provided and the investigating officer was able to identify the suspect with the assistance of another officer. Later in the afternoon, the suspect was arrested for the theft under $5000. The 46-year-old male was released from custody on an undertaking to attend court on a future date. (2025-563)
On February 19th at 12:19 pm, two drivers attended the Kitimat RCMP detachment to report a collision that had just occurred moments before on the 800 block of Lahakas Blvd. It was reported that one driver was leaving a business and as they pulled out, they hadn’t seen another vehicle passing by, causing a T bone collision. There were no injuries reported and both vehicles were driven away from the scene. (2025-595)
