On August 2, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report that a communal mailbox was broken into overnight at the intersection of Old Waneta Road and Highway 22A, in Trail, BC.
An unknown suspect, or suspects. had knocked over the mailbox then forced open five mailbox compartments. It is unknown what was stolen from inside the boxes.

On Friday, August 2, 2024, at 8:29 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a report of a shoplifting at a business in the 1600 block of Marcolin Drive, in Trail, BC. A man allegedly stolen several items using a duffle bag from the business and drove away from the scene in a 2004 red and black Chevrolet Silverado truck.
The man is described as Caucasian, approximately 25-years-old, 6’0 tall, with pinky spikey hair and wearing a black dress.

On Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 4:25 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers were patrolling in a marked police vehicle when they spotted an unlicensed 61-year-old Trail man driving a vehicle in the 700 block of Rossland Avenue, in Trail, BC. The officers detained the man and his vehicle roadside.
The officers conducted an investigation into the man, and confirmed that he was in fact unlicensed to drive a vehicle in BC. The officers served the 61-year-old Trail man with a driving prohibition. His vehicle was towed from the scene then impounded.
Trail RCMP officers will continue their pro-active patrols and enforcement actions throughout the summer," says Sgt. Wicentowich
On Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 12:44 a.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers received a report that an unknown suspect had struck and knocked over a municipal lamp post in the 3800 block of Carnation Drive, in Trail, BC.
RCMP officers attended the scene. They noted that the lamp post did not pose any risk of electrocution or fire to the public. Officers conducted patrols for the suspect and vehicle; however, did not locate the offender. Repairs to the lamp post will commence this week.

On Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 8:56 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report that a group of men were pole vaulting over a woman near the intersection of Pine Avenue and Eldorado Street, in Trail, BC. Everyone had left the scene by the time the police were notified.

On August 5, 2024, at 8:57 a.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to a report of the theft of lumber from a business in the 8200 block of Highway 22A, in Trail, BC. Overnight someone broken into the business and took 50 sheets of ½ inch sheet of plywood.
The total amount of the theft was $1750. The matter remains under investigation.

On August 6, 2024, at 8:38 p.m. Trail and Greater District RCMP and Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue responded to a fire underneath the west end of the Victoria Street Bridge, in downtown Trail, BC.
A camp located underneath the bridge caught fire and caused the closure of the bridge for approximately one hour while emergency crews extinguished it. First responders noted the bridge sustained damage to electrical wiring and components; however, appeared to be structurally undamaged. No one was injured in this incident.
A police investigator has spoken to an occupant of the camp and a person of interest, and are seeking video surveillance of the area.
