On September 18, 2024, Powell River RCMP received a report that a vehicle had backed into another vehicle in a parking lot on Thunder Bay St. during the night. A witness observed the incident and recorded the licence plate of the suspect vehicle. Video surveillance was reviewed and the driver of the vehicle was observed backing into another vehicle, and then driving around the parking lot to park in a new location. The owner of the vehicle was issued a violation ticket for fail to remain at the scene of an accident contrary to the Motor Vehicle Act.
On September 21, 2024 at approximately 10:45 pm, Powell River RCMP responded to an assault that had just occurred on Joyce Ave. A man reported that he was walking northbound on the 4900 block of Joyce Ave. when another man that was known to him, stepped out of the woods and hit him in the arm with a pipe and threatened to kill him. The suspect was identified and arrested for assault with a weapon and uttering threats. The man was released to appear in court.
