On Friday, February 7, 2025, at 1:18 a.m., frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a 41-year-old Bridesville man causing a disturbance in the emergency room at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, in Trail, BC.
The man was allegedly intoxicated and yelling at staff after being denied a visitation in the hospital. He was initially escorted off the property by security; however, returned.
Officer attended and arrested the man. The man resisted the officers by flailing his body around. The officers, assisted by the security guards, safely brought the man under control and into police custody.
The man was lodged until sober in the cell block at the Trail Detachment.
Staff have the right to refuse entry to anyone visiting the hospital who poses a safety risk and danger to other staff and guests. It is absolutely unacceptable to show up intoxicated and cause a scene. Please remember to be patient, respectful, and kind with staff when you visit the hospital, says Sgt. Wicentowich.

On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, Jason Mulder of Trail, BC, assisted a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer with the arrest of a local offender who attempted to flee, in downtown Trail, BC. Mr. Mulder trip the fleeing suspect then grabbed onto him until the officer could catch up to the fleeing suspect. The officer took the man into custody without further incident.
On Thursday, February 6, 2025, Sgt. Wicentowich awarded a Certificate of Appreciation to Jason Mulder for his role in helping capture an offender.
It is rare that a citizen puts themselves in jeopardy and steps in to help an officer arrest an individual. We appreciate Jason’s quick actions, help, and bravery in this dynamic situation. The certificate is well earned and deserved. His family and community are very proud of him, says Sgt. Wicentowich.
