On October 16th, Quadra Island RCMP received a report of an intoxicated ferry passenger. The man in question was heavily intoxicated, drinking in the public waiting area, and refusing to leave. Officers attended and the belligerent man advised he didn't want to provide his name to officers purely because he felt he didn't need to. The man continued to be confrontational with officers and was arrested for being intoxicated in a a public place. A search conducted subsequent to arrest allowed officers to obtain his identification. The man was lodged into cells and served two tickets, one for being intoxicated in a public place and the second for having open liquor in a public place.
On October 17th, a concerned complainant advised there were two half submerged derelict boats at Gowlland Harbour. Both boats were full of garbage. The complainant advised he had contacted the coast guard but hadn't heard back. Officers contacted Transport Canada who advised they were aware of the boats and were making arrangements to follow up with the owner and have them removed.
On October 18th a Quadra Island RCMP officer was on proactive patrols when the officer located a man who was wanted on a warrant out of Duncan riding his bike. The man was cooperative and warrant was executed without incident.
On October 21st, Emergency Health Services requested assistance with an intoxicated patient who was just involved in an e-bike accident. Officers arrived on scene and it was determined the intoxicated man had wiped out trying to get home. Once police arrived on scene, the patient was much more cooperative and agreed to go to the hospital to deal with his injuries.
