Today on June 25, 2021, police enforcement continued at an encampment in the Braden Mainline Forest Service Road area near Port Renfrew. While on their way, police discovered a vehicle blocking the Pacific Marine Road, approximately 500 meters west of the Pacheedaht sawmill, and a group of individuals laying across the road, several of whom were in various locking devices. Individuals also blockaded a Teal-Cedar Products facility in Mesachie Lake.
14 people were subsequently arrested for breaching the injunction (civil contempt of court). Of note, 2 of the people were previously arrested for breaching the injunction, and therefore, are being held in custody to appear before the Supreme Court in Nanaimo at a later date.
Throughout the rest of the day, officers, with the assistance of specially trained personnel, removed more individuals from various locking devices within the injunction area and arrested 4 individuals for breaching the injunction (civil contempt of court).
An additional arrest on June 24, 2021 for breaching the injunction (civil contempt of court) has been added to the overall total. Since enforcement began, the RCMP have now arrested 320 individuals; at least 14 of whom were previously arrested. Of the 320 total arrested, 247 were for breaching the injunction (civil contempt of court), 65 were for obstruction, 4 were for mischief, 2 were for breaching their release conditions, 1 for counselling to resist arrest and 1 for assaulting a police officer.
