Surrey man charged with 15 counts after BC Highway Patrol investigation of fatal accident

After just over one year of investigation from BC Highway Patrol, a Surrey man has been formally charged with 15 criminal counts for a collision that killed two people and injured three others.

On February 18, 2024, at 3:00 a.m., a minivan and a Tesla collided at the side of Highway #1 eastbound near the Sprott Street exit in Burnaby, BC. A 20-year-old Maple Ridge woman and a 23-year-old Maple Ridge woman were killed in the collision. Two other Maple Ridge women in their twenties were seriously hurt, along with a Surrey man in his thirties.

On June 9, 2025, the BC Prosecution Service charged 35-year-old Chi Sun Park with 15 counts, including the following:

Park’s next court date is on July 24, 2025 at Vancouver Provincial Court. This matter is now before the courts and no further information will be released at this time in order to respect the court process.
