Quesnel RCMP saw a rise in calls for service in 2024.
Between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024, Quesnel RCMP responded to over 11,000 calls for service, which is an increase from previous years. Approximately nine percent of the calls for service had a mental health component. There was a decrease in reports of residential Break and Enters and Theft from motor vehicles but an increase in Commercial Break and Enters and Theft of motor vehicles. There was also an increase in reports of Domestic Violence and Assaults.
In April of 2024, Quesnel RCMP created a new municipal traffic unit to help combat impaired driving and increase road safety. In the 9-month period the unit dealt with approximately 350 calls for service and removed approximately 54 impaired drivers from the roads.
The municipal traffic unit has shown great success in removing dangerous drivers from our roads, said Sgt. Clay Kronebusch.
