The officer discovered that a 23-year-old Genelle woman had lost controlled of her vehicle while travelling eastbound and rolled her vehicle into the snowbank on the side of the highway. Transport truck rolls over, loses fuel, prompting multi-agency emergency response

File # 2024-5179

On Monday, November 11, 2024, at 6:20 a.m. Trail and Greater District RCMP, Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue, BC EHS, and YRB responded to a report that a transport truck had rolled over into the ditch on the side of Highway 3B, in Rossland, BC.

The 29-year-old Edmonton man driving the transport truck was apparently uninjured at the time of the incident. He reported that he lost control of his truck due to the icy slush on the surface of the highway. Fuel from the vehicle leaked onto the roadway which required a dedicated clean up by responders.

Trail RCMP, as well as other detachment, responded to other motor vehicle incidents over the weekend, believed to be associated to winter road conditions. Please drive according to conditions and make sure you have good winter tires on your vehicle, says Sgt. Wicentowich

Power nap

File # 2024-5187

On Monday, November 11, 2024, at 10:27 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a report of a single motor vehicle incident in the 2200 block of Highway 3B, near Fruitvale, BC. A short time later, officers received a second report of a downed powerline at the scene of the incident.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located a broken power pole and a downed powerline. A further search conducted by officers led them into a grassy field nearby where they located a 41-year-old Sooke man and his 37-year-old passenger who were attempting to leave the scene. Officers arrested the man as he was prohibited from driving a motor vehicle in BC. His passenger reported that she was asleep at the time of the incident. Both were transported by BC EHS to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital for a precautionary medical assessment.

Two utility companies and a towing service spent several hours cleaning up the scene and repairing the power pole and lines.

The 41-year-old Sooke man will make his first appearance on January 9, 2025, in Provincial Court, in Rossland, BC, to face criminal charges related to this incident.

I am sure their experience was electrifying, says Sgt. Wicentowich
