Chief Superintendent Brad Haugli is hanging up his Stetson and has officially retired from his role as Southeast District Commander, the position he has held since 2015.

C/Supt. Haugli will be leaving the RCMP after completing 35 years, a career that has largely been spent in operational policing, serving three of four RCMP districts within British Columbia – North, Lower Mainland, and Southeast. He was commissioned in 2007 while stationed in Surrey, where he worked with front line and support units as the Assistant Operations Officer, then within Investigative Services as the Senior Investigator of Property Crime and Drug Sections.

In 2009, C/Supt. Haugli returned to Southeast District as the Officer in Charge of Penticton South Okanagan Similkameen Regional Detachment. Then, four years later in 2013, he was back in the Lower Mainland where he assumed the new position as the Lower Mainland District Investigative Services Officer, overseeing a number of programs and units within the District. That same year, he was elected as President of the British Columbia Association of Chiefs of Police (BCACP), after serving as Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer the previous two years.

Apart from his immense operational experience, C/Supt. Haugli’s personal commitment to serving his community includes heavy involvement with the United Way Campaign and Cops for Kids. Maintaining a good balance between work and life has always been important for C/Supt. Haugli, and is now very much looking forward to enjoying his retirement with family and friends.

As we say farewell to C/Supt. Haugli, Southeast District has welcomed a new Commander. C/Supt. Shawna Baher has transitioned from her role as the Vancouver Island District Commander to lead in the Southeast, where she previously served as the Officer in Charge of the Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP.

We wish to congratulate C/Supt. Haugli for an impressive career, and would like to welcome C/Supt. Shawna Baher back into the Southeast District.
