Truck drives through construction zone in Mission

Mission

2024-08-28 16:08 PDT

File # 2024-10187

A work crew in the northbound lanes of the Mission Bridge called Mission RCMP on August 23, after a concerning encounter with a pickup truck.

The construction crew was setup on the Mission Bridge around 12:30 pm, with traffic control persons and cones in place, when a silver or grey pickup truck allegedly slowed, creating a gap in traffic, then accelerated through the construction zone. As it did, it knocked over several traffic cones, and caused hot asphalt to be thrown toward some of the workers. Several of the workers reportedly had to jump out of the way to ensure their safety. No injuries were reported.

The truck is described as a silver or grey full-size pickup truck, with a roofing company’s name on it. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash-cam footage of it is asked to call Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.
