Comox Valley

Magic was in the air for some important police training earlier this month.
On April 9, 2025, in partnership with BCRCMP Air Services, Magic and a few of his colleagues from Campbell River, Duncan and Nanaimo took part in some training high up in the air over the Comox Valley.
The training took place at a property on Headquarters Road with plenty of space to move around. It included both fully operational police dogs and enthusiastic up-and-comers, one only 5-months old. The exercise was an introduction to the sights, sounds, and vibrations of a helicopter in action.
The environment we work in on Vancouver Island can be rugged, remote, and fast changing. Said Cst. Chris Johnson, Police Service Dog Handler for Magic. Practicing helicopter deployment ensures our dogs are desensitized to the noise, and ready to enter and exit the helicopter safety whether they’re seasoned veterans or new on the job rookies.
