On April 26th, less then an hour later at 9:40 pm, a second Kitimat RCMP officer conducted a traffic stop and they also ended up conducting an impaired operation of a motor vehicle investigation. This driver also provided two sampled of breath into an approved screening device, however the results were a ‘WARN’. As a result, the driver was issued a 3-day Immediate Roadside Driving Prohibition. The driver was also issued a violation ticket foe failing to produce their Drivers License. (2025-1411)

(2025-1423)

30/90-day IRP

The manner in which a vehicle was being operated caught the attention of a patrolling Kitimat RCMP officer at approximately 11:28 pm on April 29th. The officer conducted a traffic stop and quickly initiated an impaired operation of a motor vehicle investigation. During the investigation, the driver provided two breath samples into an approved roadside screening device. Unfortunately, both samples displayed a ‘FAIL’ result. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. (2025-1447)

False 911 call

An officer of the Kitimat RCMP was called to a Whitesail neighbourhood residence at 7:25 am on April 30th due to a dropped call to 911. The officer attended the residence and was able to ensure there was no emergency. It was found that children had access to an older mobile cellular device that was not hooked up to the network. The parent was educated that a cellphone, even though not on the network, if charged can still call 911 by dialing or pushing the emergency button. The Kitimat RCMP would like to remind residents that it is very common to allow children to play with older cell phones, however, please ensure they are powered down to ensure that an accidental call to 911 is not made. Every 911 call requires a follow up and can use a lot of time to locate the origins of the call, if there is an emergency or not. (2025-1448)
