On March 12, 2025, at approximately 4:05 p.m. West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a serious collision involving four vehicles near the 6 Mile Rd exit on Trans Canada Hwy.
All four vehicles involved, which included two pick-up trucks and two sedans, sustained significant damage and were spread across the northbound lanes, with one vehicle landing in the grass median between north and southbound lanes.
Emergency crews including West Shore RCMP Frontline and Traffic Unit, BC Emergency Health Services, View Royal, Langford and Colwood Fire Departments all attended the scene. The RCMP Collision Reconstructionist was also called and examined the scene.
Two drivers sustained critical life-threatening injuries, while the other two drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries. There were no passengers in any of the four vehicles. All drivers were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Emcon Road Services assisted in traffic control as the Trans Canada Hwy was completely shut down in both directions at this location for approximately an hour. One southbound lane was opened up at approximately 5:30 p.m.. Northbound lanes remained completely shut down until just after midnight on March 13, causing lengthy traffic delays.
The cause of the collision has not yet been determined however, police have ruled out impairment. The investigation is ongoing and police believe that a sedan travelling southbound on the Trans Canada Hwy crossed over the center median and into oncoming northbound traffic.
Police are still investigating this collision and are seeking any witnesses to come forward and provide their information to police. If you have a dash camera and were travelling north or southbound on the Trans Canada Hwy near 6 Mile Rd exit between 3:30 and 4:10 p.m. please check your footage as you may have captured this collision on camera. Call West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264 if you have any information regarding this collision.
We thank the public for their patience as emergency crews attended the scene.
