Crash sends one vehicle into Okanagan Lake

On October 11, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. West Kelowna RCMP were dispatched to a vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 97 in Peachland.

A black Dodge pickup truck traveling westbound on highway 97 suffered an unexpected blown left front tire causing the driver to lose control and veer into the oncoming lanes striking an eastbound GMC Yukon.

The collision caused the truck to leave the road surface and landing upright in Okanagan Lake. Fortunately, the driver was able to free himself by breaking the driver side window and was waiting for emergency services to arrive.

This collision could have resulted in multiple injuries or even death, but fortunately no one was injured stated Cst. Mike Della-Paolera media Relations Officer with the Kelowna RCMP.

The RCMP are asking the public who may have witnessed this collision and have yet to speak with an officer or if you possess dash camera recording from this time to contact the West Kelowna RCMP at (250) 762-2880 and reference file number 2023-61004
