Theft of copper wire/tools

The RCMP have received several reports of theft from a construction site off of Selma Park Road in Sechelt. Sometime overnight on Nov 14-15th 100' of heavy duty 1 1/4" cable was stolen from 5330 Smaylilh Way.  It is believed the cable was stolen for the copper content.  The cable is very heavy and would have needed two people and a vehicle to remove it from the site.  The same site also had 150' of the same cable a portable generator and tools stolen from the site between November 8-12th.  If anyone noted anything suspicious in the area they are asked to call the Sunshine Coast RCMP.

Found Canoe

A multi colored older metal red and blue canoe was located floating on the south west side of Poise Island in the Sechelt Inlet.  It is believed to have broken loose during the storm last week.  If anyone is missing a canoe or knows the owner, please contact the Sunshine Coast RCMP at 604-885-2266, file 2024-8941 relates.

Fraud

A Sunshine Coast RCMP resident reported a phishing scheme where  he received a call that showed on his call display as coming from "Telus".  The caller was able to obtain personal information from the victim including banking information.  After the call the victim was suspicious and tried to call the Telus number back but it was blocked.  The victim reported the incident to the police and to Equifax about the potential fraud.

On November 8th a Gibsons resident reported to police that he had been defrauded of over $20,000 by someone who reported to be part of a timeshare buy back company.  As the resident did own a timeshare in Mexico, he believed the caller was legitimate.  The victim wired two payments and then became suspicious when they asked for more money.  After calling the legitimate time share management company, he realized it was a scam.

Impaired Driving

On November 10th, Sunshine Coast RCMP had set up an impaired driving road block at Sunshine Coast Hwy and Matukwum Avenue in Sechelt.  At approximately 11:15 pm a grey pick up truck approached the road block and instead of slowing to speak with police, the truck sped up and drove through the roadblock.  RCMP conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle a short distance away.  The driver provided a breath sample which resulted in a "Fail" reading.  A 90 day driving prohibition was issued and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

On November 7th at 11:45 pm, Sunshine Coast RCMP responded to a report that a pick up truck had crashed into a ditch in the 5800 block of Reef Road.  RCMP made contact with the driver who showed clear indicia of alcohol impairment.  The driver provided a breath sample which resulted in a "Fail" reading.  A 90 day driving prohibition was issued and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

Break and Enter - Business

On November 18th at approximately 11:30 pm a masked person threw a brick through the glass door of a business at 5710 Teredo Street.  The suspect was wearing dark clothing and had a red colored back pack.   If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please call the RCMP at 604-885-2266, file 2024-8985 relates.

Mischief to Business

On November 17th at approximately 5:20 am a person dressed all in black smashed a window at Trail Bay Source for Sports located at 5504 Trail Avenue in Sechelt. If anyone witnessed this mischief they are asked to contact the RCMP at 604-885-2266, file 2024-8929 relates.
