Paper license plates led to police locating 100 grams of suspected illegal drugs in a Valleyview plaza parking lot yesterday.
On Tuesday Jan. 28, 2025, around 11:50 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were on the 2100-block of the Trans Canada Highway East assisting with a separate call for service, when they observed a suspicious license plate on a white Chrysler 300. As part of the investigation, police confirmed the vehicle had not been reported stolen, but the plates were in fact made of paper and tape.
A person was located in the backseat of the vehicle, but the alleged driver was nowhere to be found, nor was the registered owner, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson. Inside the vehicle however, police found about 100 grams of what appeared to be methamphetamine and fentanyl, along with paraphernalia indicative of drug trafficking.
