Vehicle vs light standard

At 6:00 am on November 7th, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of a vehicle striking a light standard in a parking lot located on the 200 block of City Centre. The vehicle sustained sufficient amount of damage to cause the air bags to deploy, however no injuries were reported to the driver or passenger. The investigating office noted that there was a heavy rain at the time of the collision. This incident is a very good reminder that it gets dark much earlier and stays dark well into the morning hours as we roll into winter. Please drive with extra care with the shorter day light hours and quick weather changes. (2024-4071)

The investigating officer located the pedestrian and everything there were no issues. The pedestrian was warned to walk with care, reminded that they may be hard to see and was allowed to continue. 2 IRP’s in less then 5 mins...

The first vehicle was noticed while it was being operated along Wakashan Blvd, when it suddenly turned into a parking lot and promptly parked. A traffic stop was initiated, and the officer began an impaired operation of a motor vehicle investigation. A breath sample was provided by the driver which registered fail. The second officer located a vehicle on Tsimshian Blvd being operated in a manner that caught the officer’s attention. During the traffic stop, an investigation into impaired driving was initiated and two breath samples were provided. Both had a Fail result. Both vehicles were also impounded for 30 days. As we get into the holiday season, please make sure you have planned safe rides home and do not take the chance to drive home after having a few drinks. (2024-4102) (2024-4103)
