Campbell River RCMP are looking for public assistance to locate assault suspect

The Campbell River RCMP are asking for the public's assistance to locate and identify a suspect after a firearm was discharged in a wooded area south of Campbell River on November 23rd, 2023.

A 911 call was received shortly after 1 pm on November 23rd, directing police to a wooded area off of York Road that is popular with off road vehicle enthusiasts. 

While collecting firewood in the area, the victim was confronted by a man operating a side by side. The suspect pulled out a firearm and fired it near the victim and then proceeded to assault him.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 50-60 years old, under 6ft tall, and has a husky build. He was operating a blue sport style side by side.
