Police and fire investigating residential fire

The Nanaimo RCMP in conjunction with the City of Nanaimo Fire and Rescue are investigating an early morning blaze that destroyed a south end residence. The fire was reported shortly after 5 am on Wednesday November 20, 2024 and involved a home at 1019 block of Old Victoria Road.

The home was engulfed in flames by the time fire crews and police arrived. Witnesses told investigators that shortly after the fire was reported an adult, who is believed to reside in the home, may have re-entered the residence. This person is unaccounted for.

Fire crews are still on scene as the fire has not been totally extinguished and the home is currently unsafe to enter. If anyone has information on the whereabouts of the unaccounted person, please contact the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
