File # 2024-4752

On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 5:07 p.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report from an owner that her puppy was the victim of a hit-and-run incident in the 1500 block of Highway 3B, in Fruitvale, BC.

A witness reported hearing the collision between a black truck and the puppy on the highway. The witness saw the driver of the vehicle stopped his truck roadside, checked the condition of the puppy, then left the scene of the incident. Unfortunately, the puppy did not survive its injuries sustained from the collision.

The truck may have been a Toyota Tacoma with a red light bar attached to the tailgate.

If you have any information about this incident, please contact the Trail Detachment at 250-364-2566 to speak to an investigator, says Sgt. Wicentowich

The owner of the vehicle went to purchase an item from a business. He left his key inside his vehicle and the vehicle running. When he returned a short time later, he witnessed his vehicle backing out of the parking stall with two men inside it.

The vehicle was later recovered from an area on Gelesz Road. The vehicle had sustained damage to the front end.

Road rage leads to serious head injury

File # 2024-4812

On Saturday, October 20, 2024, at 10:25 a.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District officer received a report about a road rage incident that occurred on Highway 3B, in Trail, BC.

A 51-year-old Trail man was driving his vehicle eastbound on Highway 3B when he observed a silver/champagne coloured Subaru Forester/Outback driving erratically. He alleged that he was cut off by the Subaru. The man decided to follow the Subaru in order to obtain the licence plate number.

The driver of the Subaru pulled over to the side of the road near the intersection of Highway 3B and Marcolin Drive. The man pulled over as well, and exited his vehicle. When he approached the other driver, a man, and his wife, he discovered she was recording the incident on her phone. The man allegedly pushed woman’s phone out of his way and was subsequently allegedly pushed over by her husband. The man fell over backwards and hit his head.

The 51-year-old Trail man attended the Trail Detachment to report the incident. Officers assessed his injury and contacted EHS. EHS attended and transported the man to the local hospital as he required medical treatment for his injuries.

The matter remains under investigation.

If you witnessed this incident, or have any information, please contact the Trail Detachment at 250-364-2566 to speak to an investigator.

File # 2024-4819

On Saturday, October 20, 2024, at 4:10 p.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District officer was contacted by Canadian Border Service Agency about a 63-year-old man possibly driving his vehicle while impaired by alcohol on Highway 3B, near Rossland, BC.

The officer located the man and his vehicle near the 7000 block of Devito Drive. The man and his vehicle were detained roadside.

The officer made observations that lead him to believe the man’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was allegedly impaired by alcohol. A demand was read to the man who provided a sample of breath roadside that resulted in a warn.

The 63-year-old Trail man was issued a 3-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under Section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act. His vehicle was impounded.
