Police enforcement of the BC Supreme Court injunction order in the Fairy Creek Watershed area continued today, on August 24, 2021, with ongoing efforts to remove two individuals from a very complex locking device encased in a metal framed box and re-enforced with concrete. After several arduous hours, the two were extracted and arrested for breaching the injunction (contempt of court).
Other individuals were removed from tripod-structures or locking devices today, and were arrested after being extracted.

Officers also dealt with a structure made of sticks and logs, similar to a beaver dam, off the Granite Mainline Forest Service Road. Upon inspection of the structure, it was noted that there was human excrement and several jars and containers filled with urine placed strategically throughout the wooden structure to potentially fall and land on anyone who attempts to dismantle the structure and remove it from blocking the forestry road.
In total, 8 individuals were arrested today for breaching the injunction (contempt of court). One of whom is a minor who has been arrested multiple times, and so a charge of breaching the injunction (contempt of court) is being pursued.
All arrested adults were processed and released in Port Renfrew and the minor was released to their parent/guardian in Lake Cowichan. Many others, approximately 20, did not wish to be arrested and voluntarily left the area without incident.
Since enforcement began, the RCMP have arrested 796 individuals; 56 of whom were previously arrested with a combined total of 133 times. Of the total arrested, 620 were for breaching the injunction (contempt of court), 147 were for obstruction, 13 were for mischief, 6 were for breaching their release conditions, 5 were for assaulting a police officer, 2 were for failing to comply with a court order, 1 for counselling to resist arrest, 1 for causing a disturbance, and 1 wanted Canada-wide on warrants issued by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
