A man who was arrested while breaking into a Nanoose Bay residence in December 2024 is facing further charges related to five other house break-ins in the Oceanside area.

Following continued investigation by the Oceanside RCMP into a rash of residential break and enters in late 2024, 41-year-old Timothy Dafoe has been charged with five additional counts of break and enter for breaking into five different homes between October and December 2024. The homes were in Nanoose Bay, Parksville, French Creek and Qualicum Beach.

Investigators were able to link Timothy Dafoe to the break and enters through various pieces of evidence including witness statements and video surveillance.

As residential break and enters are a rare occurrence in the Oceanside area and can cause concern among local residents, Oceanside RCMP are releasing this update simply to keep residents informed.

Thank you to all of the witnesses who reported the incidents and suspicious activities in their neighbourhoods, says Sergeant Shane Worth of the Oceanside RCMP. The alert residents and video surveillance allowed police to forward compelling evidence to Crown Counsel resulting in multiple charges.

The five new charges were laid on January 7, 2025. Timothy Dafoe remains in custody and his next court appearance is scheduled for February 13, 2025.
