One person deceased, another injured following weekend shooting

On Sunday, January 19, 2025 shortly after 11:00 PM, Dawson Creek RCMP received a report of shots fired on 102nd Avenue in the city. 

Upon police arrival one adult man was located deceased. While engaged with this investigation a second report of shots fired was received at a nearby hotel. An individual was found at that location with non-life-threatening injuries and has been taken to hospital.

Police identified several persons of interest in connection with both investigations. BC RCMP North District Major Crime Unit (NDMCU) has conduct of the investigation. No charges have been laid to date and the investigation is ongoing.

While police believe these to be targeted events, we wish to remind the public to be diligent and that they can expect to see an increased police presence in the community as efforts continue to ensure safety in the community of Dawson Creek.
