Ladysmith RCMP support students on Pink Shirt day

Ladysmith RCMP attend local school events for Pink Shirt day.


On February 26, 2025 Members of the Ladysmith RCMP detachment, Indigenous Policing Section and Ladysmith Victim Services attended local school events to support students on Pink Shirt day, and bring awareness to anti-bullying.

Officers attended the Ladysmith Secondary School participating in an online assembly to all classes held over Zoom, then visited with grade four students to encourage them to speak up if they are bullied and promote kind treatment of others.


Officers attended École North Oyster Elementary for an assembly and participated in a variety of group art projects with the students.

In Stz`uminus, Constable Glen Martin and Victim Services workers gave presentations to several classes from the Stz`uminus Elementary School as well as Stzùminus Community School, involving students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Pre-school students helped decorated the RCMP pickup truck with pink handprints. "Our main goal was to spread the message of kindness and encourage students to speak up if they are being bullied" said Constable Glen Martin, "the kids look forward all year to putting hand prints on the Police truck and they had a great time."
