Semi tractor collision sends both drivers to hospital

A collision between two semi tractors with attached trailers, sends both drivers to hospital.

On April 21, 2025, shortly after 6:00pm, Merritt Front Line Officers were called to the Coquihalla Highway as two semi tractors with attached trailers had collided in the Southbound lanes. One of the semi tractors and trailers sustained significant damage and the driver had to be extracted by the Merritt Fire Department.

Both driver's suffered serious injuries. One was air lifted to Royal Columbian Hospital.

"The cause of the collision is still under investigation", says Staff Sergeant Josh Roda. "It's a stark reminder that even when conditions are clear, collisions can happen".

Investigators are asking that anyone with information or dash camera footage, that has not yet spoken to police, please call the Merritt RCMP at 250-378-4262.
