On June 23, 2025, employees at business located in the 2200 block of 14th Avenue in Castlegar, BC arrived to work discovering the business had a broken window and were the victim to theft.
Video surveillance captured an individual wearing dark clothing, while attempting to cover their face, enter the building through a broken window shortly after 5:00am on June 23, 2025. Once inside, the suspect walked throughout the business looking for items to steal. Property representatives are currently identifying items stolen, which includes Canadian currency, cheques to the business, and a grey Acer laptop.
The investigation is on-going and anyone with information is asked to contact the Castlegar RCMP at (250) 365-7721.
On June 21, 2025, Castlegar RCMP received three separate reports of property being stolen from vehicles.
The thefts occurred throughout the previous evening in the 300 block of Lakeview Street where a wallet, Acer laptop and Canadian currency was stolen and two separate thefts that occurred in the 1000 block of 8th Street, BC, where a back pack with fishing tackle stolen, and the second vehicle having a debit card stolen. The back pack was later turned into the Castlegar RCMP and turned over to the owner and the stolen debit card was later fraudulently used at numerous local Castlegar businesses.
RCMP attended to the business and upon viewing surveillance footage were able to identify the suspect who was well known to police using the credit card.
The 51-year-old Castlegar male was later located by police and arrested. He is next scheduled to appear in Castlegar court August 27, 2025.
June 24, 2024, at approximately 12:44 a.m., a home owner in the 1400 block of Arrow Lakes Drive, Castlegar, BC, was awoken upon hearing noise outside their residence. The home owner looked outside and did not see anyone. However, upon viewing their security camera system a suspect male was captured standing on the fence, moving the camera on two separate occasions 9 minutes apart. Police made patrols and were unable to locate the suspect. Later, the home owner checked their security cameras again and observed the male had returned and was watching her property. The home provided the name of a potential suspect and RCMP are continuing to investigate.
June 24, 2025, at 8:46 a.m., a resident in the 2100 block of 10 Avenue, Castlegar, BC, discovered their blue e-bike, while parked outside, had been stolen throughout the previous evening. The owner observed a suspicious looking male and follow them to a property located in the 2100 block of Crestview Crescent where the owner observed his stolen bike partly concealed under a tarp. The owner retrieved his bike while the uncooperative male departed in a dark pick up truck.
