On October 15, 2024, 4:00pm Clinton RCMP were advised of a single vehicle had left High Bar road, two kilometers from Big Bar road west junction. Caller reported there was a white truck at the bottom of the ravine.
Constable Bentley from the Clinton detachment attended the area and met up with the caller, who took police to the location. Constable Bentley once at the location, could clearly see the truck was traveling west on High Bar road when the driver lost control, left the roadway and rolled down the ravine.
Constable Bentley having safety concerns, determined a search and rescue team would be required and would attended in the day light.
On October 16, police along with South Cariboo search and rescue attended the location. A three person team descended down one hundred and thirty five meters, into the ravine.
The team located and recovered the deceased, single male occupant who had been ejected from the vehicle.
Constable Bentley was able to speak to the family who had arrived in the area.
Investigation has now been turned over to the coroners office.
