2023-12-18 14:50 PST

File # 2023-25032

Last week, the West Shore RCMP published a media release seeking public assistance in identifying a jewelry thief.

The theft took place on Dec 9, at West Shore Gold and Silver store located at 730 Goldstream Ave in Langford. A male suspect tried on several necklaces and fled the store without paying for the jewelry which was worth approximately $20 000.

The West Shore RCMP Crime Reduction Unit led the investigation and a media release was published on December 12, with the suspects photo and description.

On December 18, the suspect turned himself into police. The suspect who is identified as a 23-year-old man has been arrested for theft over $5000. The investigation is ongoing and police have also recovered some of the stolen jewelry.

We thank the public and media for sharing the original post which has now been taken down. The suspect has been released on an Undertaking and is set to appear in court in the new year.
