Driving complaint

On December 5th, at 1:05 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a driving complaint regarding a company truck on Highway 37 near the Wedeene Forest service road. The manner in which the truck was being driven concerned another driver and the other driver was able to provide a licence plate number and a good description of the vehicle. Patrols were conducted and the vehicle was not located, however a call to the company was made and advised of the concerns. (2024-4379)

Intoxicated in public

A male urinating on a vehicle tire at approximately 12:19 am on December 7th, on the 100 block of Nechako Centre, caught the attention of a patrolling RCMP officer. The male was found to be intoxicated in public. As a result, he was arrested for causing a disturbance by being drunk in public and lodged into the Kitimat RCMP Detachment cells. Once sober, the male was released from custody and issued a violation ticket for being intoxicated in a public place. (2024-4401)

Cram the cruiser event

On Saturday December 7th, the Kitimat RCMP had officers attend No Frills between 10:00 am – 5:00 pm for the annual Cram the Cruiser event for the Kitimat Food Bank. The Kitimat RCMP would like to thank the community for stepping up and being so generous for the donations. There were 9 buggies full of food and toys. Several people donated items like soap, diapers and toothpaste too, everything that can help people. Cash and gift cards were donated during the event as well. We’d also like to remind people that may find themselves in need to reach out, we have a community here that cares and wants to help. The Kitimat RCMP would like to again thank the community, Kyle and his staff at No Frills, Gareen Ball, Spruce Tree Media and the Kitimat Food Bank for an amazing day on Saturday!

Wellbeing check

At 4:30 am on December 8th, the Kitimat RCMP received a request to check the wellbeing of a person on the 1700 block of Nalabila Blvd. The caller was concerned about the condition of the person as they appeared to be having an issue walking. The investigation RCMP officer located a male who had been drinking earlier in the evening, but was able to care for themselves. A ride to the male’s residence was arranged. (2024-4412)

E-transfer fraud

A Kitimat resident contacted the Kitimat RCMP on December 9th regarding a purchase that was made on line and with an e-transfer, but no goods were received. The money was sent to an e-transfer address with a different name then the seller. Unfortunately, once an e-transfer is done and accepted, there is no way to trace the transaction or get one’s money back. Always ensure any online purchase is confirmed to be legitimate and you check the email address before forwarding money. (2024-4435)

Theft of generator

The Kitimat RCMP received a report of a theft under $5000 on December 10th. It was reported that a generator had been stolen off of a boat that was moored on the 400 block of Haisla Ave sometime on December 7th or 8th. The generator was believed to be valued at approximately $300 - $400. The investigation remains open as the area is being canvased for possible CCTV footage. (2024-4451)

Cause a disturbance leads to arrest

On December 12th at approximately 9:30 pm, the Kitimat RCMP were called to a residence in the Kildala Neighbourhood for a disturbance. The investigating officer attended and found that the person that was causing the disturbance had an unendorsed warrant for their arrest. The subject was arrested without an issue and was transported to the Kitimat RCMP detachment cells to be held for a bail hearing the following day. (2024-4465)
