A man arrested in Comox yesterday is facing two counts of abduction related to a report received in Kamloops on Monday.
On April 22, 2024, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment began an investigation involving two youths who were allegedly taken without lawful authority or the consent of their parent, guardian, or person responsible for their care.
As part of the investigation, Kamloops police officers initiated a multi-jurisdiction response with detachments across the province, and the youths were quickly and safely located, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. A suspect was arrested by Comox Valley RCMP officers and held in custody for court.

Janos K Juckiewicz, 33, of Kamloops is charged with two counts of abduction of a person under the age of 16. He was held for court and remanded in custody until his next court appearance, scheduled for later this week.
As the matter is now before the courts, no further information is available for release.
