Missing person located deceased

Update June 27, 2025:North Cowichan / Duncan RCMP would like to remind the community that there is no public access to the Cowichan River in the area of Cliffs Road and Banks Road in Duncan. Parents and youth looking to enjoy the water in the summer months should consider areas such as Fuller Lake in Chemainus, Arbutus Park in Youboo and West Shawnigan Lake Park where a lifeguard is on duty or in areas where there is adult supervision.

On June 10, 2025, North Cowichan/ Duncan RCMP received the report of a missing person who was last seen the previous day in the area around Paradise Pools.

Search and Rescue was called out to assist with locating the missing person. Sadly, he was found deceased in the river.

While criminality does not appear to be a factor, investigators are speaking with witnesses and working closely with BC Coroner’s Service to determine the circumstances that lead to this death.

Anyone who was in the area or has information and has not yet spoken with police is asked to call 250-748-5522.
