On August 8, 2024 Jaden Kahnapace was sentenced to 2 years 1 month and 24 days, less credit for time served, and a lifetime firearms prohibition after pleading guilty to multiple robberies.
Background:
On October 2, 2021 Surrey RCMP received a report of a robbery that occurred at a retail store, located in the 16000 block of 24 Avenue, Surrey, BC. A store employee was assaulted and robbed of $1500 cash and 38 various cell phones and accessories valued at $32,000. Officers responded and were able to recover evidence which eventually was linked back to the suspect, Jaden Kahnapace.
On October 10, 2021, Langley RCMP received a report of a robbery at a retail store, located at 20100 block of 88 Avenue, Langley BC with a similar Modus Operandi where two suspects entered the store, assaulted and threatened them. During the robbery, 20 cell phones were stolen. Investigators at scene seized items discarded by the suspects, which were later determined to be linked to Jaden Kahnapace.
On October 11, 2021, Abbotsford Police received a report of a robbery at a local pharmacy, located on Townline Road, Abbotsford, BC. Three suspects entered the pharmacy, indicating they had a firearm. A large quantity of medication was reported stolen. Jaden Kahnapace was identified through video surveillance in connection with this robbery.
In November 2021, a Search Warrant was executed at Kahnapace’s residence in Calgary, where he was arrested for the three robberies. Medication stolen during the pharmacy robbery, along with cellphones stolen during the retail store robberies were located inside his residence.

On August 8, 2024, Jaden Kahnapace plead guilty and was convicted of the following:

The investigation crossed Provincial and Municipal boundaries, leading to a very successful outcome due to the great work of all the agencies involved.
