On July 18, 2024, Powell River RCMP responded to a report that an intoxicated man was harassing people near the Westview ferry terminal.
Police located the man sitting on the ground nearby consuming liquor. The man was visibly intoxicated and told police that his plan was to continue drinking.
The man was arrested for intoxication in a public place and was held until sober. Upon his release, the man was issued a violation ticket for consume alcohol in public place contrary to the Liquor Control and Licencing Act.
In the early morning of July 21, 2024 at approximately 4:00am, Powell River RCMP received a report of a break and enter in progress at the Town Centre Mall.
Police attended and observed two male youth running inside the mall toward the exit doors that lead to the Walmart parking lot. The youth exited the mall and split up.
After a short foot pursuit, one male youth was apprehended by police and arrested for Break and Enter. The search for the second youth was unsuccessful and he was not located.
The investigation is ongoing.

On July 23, 2024, Powell River RCMP received a report from the Blackberry Festival organizers that a fraudulent message had been posted on their Facebook page. The individual had posted a vendor application form requesting information and that payment be made to an illegitimate email address.
Organizer Kelly Keil noticed the post and promptly removed it from the site. Kelly was worried that a potential vendor may have made a payment to the fraudulent email address before the post was taken down and advised that, the only legitimate email address for the Blackberry Festival is prblackberryfestival@gmail.com and payments are only made to the Powell River Chamber of Commerce.

Powell River RCMP is asking anyone who may have made a payment to the fraudulent email address to phone the detachment at 604-485-6255.
