On Friday, July 28, 2023, at 2:07 a.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to an intoxicated 40-year-old Fruitvale man screaming loudly and refusing to leave the hospital located in the 1200 block of Hospital Bench Road, in Trail, BC. The man had been discharged from the hospital hours earlier; however, did not wish to leave and became confrontational with the medical staff. Officers attended the scene and arrested the man for causing a disturbance without incident and lodged him into the cell block at the Trail Detachment.
The 40-year-old Fruitvale man, when sober, was picked up the next morning by a family member, and expressed regret about his actions.

On Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 8:32 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers, Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue, and EHS responded to the report of a 35-year-old Trail man who laying on the grass and appeared to be deceased in the 1200 block of Esplanade Avenue, in Trail, BC. The man was confirmed to be alive upon attendance. He informed the first responders that he slept with his eyes open. The man had allegedly consumed street drugs prior to this interaction. Nearby companions informed first responders that they would looked after the man.
