The Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 400 calls between September 13 and 26, 2024. Below are some highlights of calls attended:
The failure of one driver to stop at an intersection caused a collision between two vehicles on September 15, 2024, near Clark Street and Paquette Ave. One man driving a white car failed to stop, colliding with a black pickup truck which was travelling north bound on Clark Street. Signifiacant damage was visible on the car while the pickup received less damage. The driver of the car was issued a violation ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign and his vehicle was towed from scene. No injuries were reported at the collision. (2024-8178)
On the afternoon of September 16, police received a report of a hit and run on the 4600 block of Lakelse Ave involving three vehicles. A Chevy Impala was reported to have backed into a Jeep Wrangler with enough force that the Jeep then hit second vehicle behind it. The driver of the Impala left the scene but was later located in the Thornhill area. A traffic stop was conducted with the vehicle and the driver admitted to the collision. He was issued a violation ticket for failing to remain at the scene, driving without due care and attention, and failing to wear a seatbelt. No injuries were reported during this incident. (2024-8196)
On September 24, near midnight, RCMP were conducting routine patrols in downtown Terrace and observed a vehicle accelerate on Kalum St to approximately 85 km per hour. The posted speed in this area is 50 km per hour. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle finding the insurance to have expired in 2023. The driver was arrested for driving without insurance and a tow company was contacted to tow the vehicle. The driver was issued a violation ticket for no insurance and the vehicle was towed back to her residence. (2024-8449)
In the early hours of September 26, police received a report of multiple vehicles on fire on the 5000 block of Pohle Ave. Four commercial vehicles ablaze and Terrace Fire was already on scene putting out the flames. No injuries were reported. Police are investigating the incident as an arson and ask that anyone with information or video from the area contact the Terrace RCMP at 250-638-7400. (2024-8487)
On September 26, around noon, RCMP were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 113 near Rosswood. A vehicle was observed to be driving at a rate of 141 kms per hour in an 80 kms per hour zone and passing other vehicles. The officer conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle and identified the male driver. The man was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed, and a 7-day vehicle impound. The man’s father was contacted to provide him with a ride home.
