Police enforcement of the BC Supreme Court injunction order in the Fairy Creek Watershed area continued over the weekend on Saturday, September 25 and Sunday, September 26, 2021, with enhanced roving proactive patrols in the Granite Mainline Forest Service Road and other corridors.
During the course of the day on Saturday, September 25, five individuals were arrested; 3 of whom for breaching the injunction (contempt of court) while being in an active cutblock, and 2 others in the injunction area for obstruction. While being escorted out by police out of the cutblock, one of the individuals escaped lawful custody. The individual has been positively identified and efforts to locate them are currently ongoing. The other four individuals were processed and released.
Active patrols were conducted again today, on September 27, 2021. No individuals were located in locking devices, trenches or in tripods, and therefore, no arrests were made. However, a number of obstructions were noted along Reid Mainline Forest Service Road.
