Found property
On March 6th a drone was located at the Sunshine Coast Golf & Country Club in Roberts Creek and turned into police. If anyone has lost a drone and can provide identifying details please contact the Sunshine Coast RCMP at 604-885-2266, file 2025-1622 relates.
Scam
A Sechelt resident called police to report someone trying to defraud them of money using the grandparent/parent scam. The caller reported to be calling on behalf of their son who had caused a serious car accident and needed money to get out of jail. Luckily the resident was suspicious and did not fall for the scam.
A Sechelt resident reported being scammed of $9284.00 by someone claiming to be a Bell Mobility representative who was able to obtain the victims banking information.
A Roberts Creek resident was defrauded after purportedly being recruited by an employment agency offering a job conducting hotel reviews. The victim transferred $7000 into a bitcoin crypto wallet through WhatsApp.
Impaired Driving
Sunshine Coast RCMP received a report of a male drinking beer in his vehicle while waiting in the ferry line up in Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver. The driver, a Sechelt resident, was intercepted by police in Gibsons and provided two breath samples which both resulted in a "Fail" result. The driver received a driving prohibition of 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
