Kamloops City

2024-12-06 12:05 PST

File # 2024-39599

A man on a bike was taken into police custody after a Motor Vehicle Act investigation led to the discovery of multiple weapons.

On Dec. 4, 2024, around 7:50 p.m., a Kamloops RCMP frontline officer was conducting patrols when he observed a person riding a bike without a helmet or light on, in contravention to the Motor Vehicle Act. The same person had allegedly fled from police the day before, when the officer attempted a traffic stop around 3 p.m., Dec. 3.

As part of the investigation, the officer located weapons, including a baton, and arrested him for possessing a weapon for dangerous purposes, in addition to obstruction, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson.

The man was held in custody for a bail hearing on charges related to weapons possession, obstruction, and fail to comply with a court order.

Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-39599.
