2025-05-22 10:33 PDT

File # 2025-3873

Quesnel RCMP arrested suspect who fled from police.

On May 20, 2025 at approximately 7:36 p.m., Quesnel RCMP attempted a traffic stop with a pickup truck on Front Street in Quesnel. The driver of the vehicle fled from police. Police did not pursue the vehicle due to concerns for public safety.

At approximately 9:11 p.m., police located the vehicle in the area of Sundown Road in Quesnel. Police set a spike belt in attempt to stop the vehicle from fleeing and prevent the driver from further endangering the public. The driver attempted to flee again, evading the spike belt and colliding with two police vehicles. Both police vehicles were significantly damaged and one police officer received minor injuries from the collision.

The suspect vehicle was disabled and the driver attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by police. The 27-year-old man who was driving the vehicle was arrested along with the 20-year-old woman who was the passenger in the vehicle.

The driver, Kyle Fredrick Ford, has been remanded in custody and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by police. The passenger has been released without charges. The police investigation is ongoing and further charges may be forthcoming, as the suspect vehicle is believed to be stolen.
