Bear attempts vehicle break-in

On Friday, October 25, 2024, at 6:45 a.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report about an attempted break-in to a vehicle in the 100 block of Haig Street, in Warfield, BC.

The officer attended the scene and noticed bear paw prints all over the vehicle. The owner believed that there may have been a food attractant left inside overnight.

In order to reduce human-wildlife conflict, please lock your vehicle and remove all possible bear attractants from your vehicles and property. Says Sgt. Wicentowich.

Chonky bear breaks into residence

On Friday, October 25, 2024, at 10:54 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a report of a bear that had broken into a residence in the 200 block of Rossland Avenue, in Trail, BC. The occupants had called police and locked themselves into room after the bear entered their residence.

Officers located the well-fed bear and scared it off the property.

The bear was fat and likely ready for hibernation. Until this time arrives, please make sure your vehicle and residence are secure, and clean up all potential food sources, says Sgt. Wicentowich Trail RCMP has spoken to the BC Conservation Officer Service and we hope to see a bigger presence of human-wildlife conflict reduction programs operating in the area soon.

Bulldozer recovered!

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 9:29 a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report from a witness who had located the bulldozer stolen from a property in Fruitvale, BC. Trail RCMP assisted the owner in recovering the vehicle.

We would like to thank the member of the public who reported the location of the stolen bulldozer to the police. The owner was very happy to have it returned to him in good condition. Says Sgt. Wicentowich.
